A bit of a rush job this week!
Hi Gang
It’s been a bit of a strange day for me today, so our newsletter is a bit brief. My Dad got rushed into hospital this morning, and as most people know, he is in the later stages of Parkinsons Disease and Associated Dementia. He’s ok for now, but it was a bit scary.

Twyla got a new ball this week*. I am quite fussy about balls being of a safe size and longer lasting than a "Gone in 60 seconds" tennis ball, which Twyla only needs to look at for it to fall to bits. But we have had the orange ball for 3 years longer than we have had Twyla, so when it came to a replacement, the choice was easy.
We were also invited to test drive a no-pull harness*. My spidey senses would typically be tingling because anything no-pull is usually highly aversive. However, Twyla found this one (once we had adjusted the front strap up past her shoulders to allow for maximum movement,) to be really comfortable.
Coupled with our bungee lead, it is actually becoming one of our favourites. Which I never thought I would say about a no-pull harness.

Has your dog been afraid of fireworks in the past? November is creeping up on us quickly, and if your dog is worried about noises, it’s never too early to make a start on noise desensitisation.
The Dog’s Trust have an excellent sound therapy resource, and I am, of course always happy to have a free chat with you to talk you through behavioural support options.

I’m sorry to hear about your dad, Freya :(. Bella doesn’t seem bothered with fireworks, but my friend’s dog, Bobby, who I look after most days is petrified. He shakes like leaf, poor thing. :(.
Sorry to hear about your dad. My dad had dementia and it is a very difficult thing to deal with for them and us. Hang in there; you’re up for it.
