We know that dogs have more complex brains than they get credit for, and they live very emotionally rich lives. They try so hard to communicate with us, and are often told they are “bad dogs” as a result. So, we discuss how to teach them in ways that work with their natural communicative and social family patterns, rather than trying to “show them who is boss.”
