Hi Gang
It’s been a bit of a week.
You may have read about my Dad over on
. Sadly, this week he passed away after a long and crappy battle with Parkinsons and Dementia, so writing has taken a bit of a back seat while we process. He was a dog lover his whole life, and had a huge influence on me and my love of dogs. All my dogs past and present adored him, as did all the other dogs that have been part of the family. I know there were many waggy tails at the bridge that night.
It’s been a long few years, and we’ve lost several members of our family, both two legged and four. But these times serve to remind us how lucky we are to have love in our lives, and to cherish those we have left, and the new loves that come into our lives after.
“Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.”
― Jamie Anderson
My Dad was a quiet man, a kind man, who loved a simple and happy life. He loved his friends and family above all else. Even through his turmoil with his illness, he remained a gentle soul, and he will forever be missed by all of us who were lucky enough to know him.

Despite all the things going on at home, Twyla has been quietly doing her walk and has now reached her 50-mile target. She (and we) hope that the £215 she so brilliantly raised for Samaritans will help them to answer the phone to anyone who needs it. This time of year can be particularly hard for many people, and a friendly voice to talk to can make all the difference.
